    @bakmanthetitanlast year It makes sense that Jaco made such strides on harmonic technique, seeing as he played a fretless bass (and was a wild genius). 341
  • @
    @calus7890last year Sounds like those three harmonics make a major triad on each string 252

    @markdaniels71742 days ago I saw a tab of “Portrait of Tracy” decades ago, specifying the area of the frets where each harmonic sounded best: 3+ and 4-, for example. Been playing (most of) the song ever since. 1

    @japzproductionslast year Woah. I always used harmonics for tuning. I thought I didn’t practice enough thats why they don’t ring! 🤯 thanks you so much for this lesson 41

    @arthurperez4884last year You know what this tells me? That the frets are in the wrong place. It’s no wonder Jaco pulled them all out! 129

    @ctyligadlast year I'm a simple man: I hear Jaco, I hit like. 14
  • @
    @thomasfaraone4213last year Spend some time behind the third fret up to the nut and the harmonics go crazy high 5

    @gmrecnepslast year Dude. Eureka!!! I've been playing guitar since 1981 and I never thought that the harmonics close to a fret might not be right on it! WOOHOOOOOO!!!! This is so awesome to know!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙏🙏🙏. You are awesome, dude! 8
  • @
    @adamadeptus3686last year That was brilliantly helpful. Reminds me of why Victor Wooten recommends just drilling down the chromatic scale on all frets, or in his words, "play all the notes." If we do this in all positions before, after, and on the frets for the harmonic technique, we can find the sweet spots you eloquently mention. 👌 ... 18

    @steelman7749 months ago THIS! Thank you. Many times I have heard Victor play more harmonics than I could get to pronounce from my fingerboards and fretboards. Now I can find them and finally make my basses really sing. Beautiful! 🥰🎸

    @kganyatshepo4828last year I'd like to say that my phone is spying on me 🙄 I was practicing and then said to myself "maybe I should learn a bit of harmonics" Then boom, first shorts video I see talks about harmonics 😂😂💔 20
  • @
    @alanredversangellast year The harmonics occur at fractions of the string length. So half the string is 12 fret etc 4
  • @
    @richardrichard54096 months ago Brilliant pure gold.
    Never mentioned but obvious if you know, the harmonic note is same as the open string but octaves higher, never changes.
