@alphamegaradio5 years agoI LOVE this guy... in a bro-love kinda way hahaha.. Paul's one of those players that just get more warm and approachable in his lessons and tips as he ages. Great playing with a contagious personality just makes for a stellar musician and teacher. Much respect to the great Mr. Gilbert, as well as to Sweetwater for pumping out these videos! :) ...12

@wesleytrott63975 years agoPaul is one of the best teachers out there. Not only does he teach you a cool lick, but he gives good advice on how to use your SHOULDER of all things. And the subtle but important string muting with the left hand. 1

@
@GregoryPearsonMusic5 years agoExcellent lesson - I see this being a great practice routine for all keys and then switch the pattern slightly and repeat - sounds like it could be used as kind of a backup riff, but it would also be a great lick to pull out of a hat. ...1

@
@TheMasonator7775 years agoWhy do some people NOT think that hammer-ons and pull-offs are valid? They are part of dynamic variation. The way to use them is, like anything, in moderation and in thoughtful ways. 4

@
@Jayezon5 years agoThe only reason Paul Gilbert can make wearing a yellow jumpsuit with a purple guitar work is because he’s not of this earth. That and being a phenomenal guitarist with a great personality. 7

@
@TheMasonator7775 years agoHumming or singing the licks to yourself as you work on them takes the lick into a familiar place, to help solidify the rhythm and/or phrasing. Sounds cheesy, but it works wonders.
