@sandormccann25466 months agoThe celebrations did not happen spontaneously, they were forced upon the people by the government. It took a long time for the celebrations to become part of the national consciousness. The monarchy was not terribly popular with the general population. The Stewart kings were generally rather awful, although James the first was at least a brilliant politician, unlike his descendants. It should also be pointed out that the parliament building in 1605 was totally different from the current builidng. ...5
